Today, 09 August, 2021, Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the world’s largest Miyawaki forest in Lahore as part of the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami initiative.
Due to the unique Miyawaki forest technology, the forest has been produced across 100 kanals with a total of 165,000 plants that will grow 10 times faster than a typical forest. To create fast-growing urban forests, it employs specialised ground preparation as well as indigenous species with varied growth rates.
Another 53 Miyawaki forest network is being planted in various sections of Lahore in order to generate carbon sinks and improve pollution abatement in the city. All of them have been geo-tagged so that their growth and development can be tracked.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan is attempting to resurrect Lahore as the city of gardens it once was,” according to a press release. The present monsoon plantation programme, which is the largest ever, is planting over 500 million trees across the country.
Prime Minister Khan praised Shibli Faraz, Minister of Science and Technology, and his staff for developing electronic voting equipment in Pakistan (EVMs).
“Looks like finally we will have elections in Pakistan where all contestants will accept the results,” the prime minister wrote on Twitter, referring to his recent inspection of locally-manufactured EVM. Meanwhile, the government claimed on Sunday that it had contained the Covid-19 pandemic thanks to its astute strategy “that not only protected people from the fatal infection but also prevented the spread of the disease.”
President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan praised the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) “excellent and devoted efforts” in creating an effective plan to stem the spread of the deadly virus.
The president stated in a tweet that the forum was a one-of-a-kind platform created by Prime Minister Imran Khan that had proven its value by effectively preparing to limit the epidemic and elevating Pakistan to the forefront of the international community for its clever lockdowns. This inception of Miyawaki forest will support the climate of Pakistan and it is considered as a very important project which is the need of the hour.
