The road had a significant growth in traffic over time, particularly in the previous two decades, although it was not enlarged in line with the demand of the hour.

This is causing the residents of Rawalpindi/Islamabad huge problem.

According to sources, CDA administration has decided to seek Rs500 million from the federal government to begin road extension.

The conclusion was reached by CDA members and Mr Ahmed the other day when reviewing two current highway development projects: The P.W.D underpass and the enlargement of the Korang Bridge.

Meanwhile, he added, the CDA will build a service road from Faizabad’s Sohan stop to Koral, and in the second phase, once the road from Koral to G.T. Road is expanded, the service road will be built on both sides of the road.

It’s worth noting that CDA asked Rs500 million from the federal government for the stated road last month, however the municipal body afterwards came up with a fresh proposal to enlarge the whole route.
